Personal note:

My focus is on data protection, because without it, a modern, liberal, and democratic constitutional state is not possible. It lays the foundation for a free and fair society in a modern world where the rights and freedoms of every individual are guaranteed and where there are spaces free from surveillance in which individuals can develop their personalities.

Bio:

I studied law in Kiel and Guildford, UK, specializing in the philosophy and logic of law, and worked for many years in the regulatory sector and in working groups of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). A key focus of my work was the development of the Standard Data Protection Model (SDM) and the management of the European data protection seal of approval, EuroPriSe, which has since become an independent company.
I currently serve as the research director of the non-profit, independent Stiftung Datenschutz.
I conduct data protection impact assessments and ethical reviews, engage in research on fundamental legal, ethical, and societal issues related to data protection, and regularly publish scholarly articles and posts on @privacyDE@legal.social.
