Personal note:

I am a PhD student in Data Science at the University of Lübeck and a lecturer at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. In my research, I combine computer science and medical informatics and develop algorithms that bring together different data sources, for example to gain a better understanding of rare diseases.

As a speaker, I talk about data science, artificial intelligence, women in computing and equal opportunities in science. Issues that are particularly close to my heart include who feels represented in science, which barriers we need to break down and how we can inspire more people to take an interest in STEM fields.

This involves bringing not only my professional perspective but also my personal story to the table: I myself quit school and, for a long time, could never have imagined going on to university at all. Today, I want to show that educational pathways do not have to follow a straight line and that scientific potential does not depend on one’s CV, gender or background.

I aim to convey complex topics in a way that is understandable and accessible, to stimulate reflection and to encourage people (especially women and young people) to pursue their own path.

Examples of previous talks / appearances:
